Last Christmas Post - I guess we just have to let it go :(

Well, it is after New Years and time to take down the tree.  I am always slow taking everything down because I don't want to let the holidays go.  It is so bittersweet that the holidays have to end and it is now “just winter”.  Our tree has a hodgepodge of ornaments – handmade items from lots of sources, mementos from special times and trips, gifts, and a few “store bought” ones that just “fit” for one reason or another.  As I look at the tree in all its glory one last time, I just thought I would share a few of our favorite ornaments…

First - the BIG COW!!  My Mom bought this at a little store in Stafford.  We love this ornament because as it gets unwrapped it starts to moo and moos very loudly until it lands on the tree.  It doesn’t really moo – that is just my DS and I being completely silly but that is part of the fun!

Here is a very ornate one, also from my Mom – this is a glass ornament and the Santa and scene that you see were painted on the INSIDE of the ornament.  How did they do that?????  Pretty cool, huh?

Here are some ornaments that were my grandmother’s *sentimental sigh*.  The fabric one was

made by my Mom.

How about evidence that I should have become a demo long, long ago!  Ornaments that I made at least 8-10 years ago…

 

And last but not least – the STAR.  This may not look like anything special but my DS made this with only a TINY amount of help when he was just 2.  It is very special to us and I don’t know if it will ever be replaced.  We had just moved to a different state (job relo), our new house was NOT ready as promised, all of our holiday stuff was in storage, we were jammed in a corporate apartment and money was a little tight.  This was a special time for us even though at times it was pretty hard being in a new city, far from family and friends at the holidays…

 

And speaking of ornaments – here is the pretty Delightful Decorations card from Amy Evans.  I am somewhere in her downline and even though we have never met, she has sent me a card every Christmas since I joined Stampin’Up! 3 years ago.  I would have never thought of this color combination but I really like it!
